James A. Philen Succumbs Friday Of Heart Attack

James Austin Philen, 60 year old Atlanta resident, died of a heart attack at
his home on Friday, November 13.  Funeral services were held Sunday at Sardis
Baptist Church.

Mr. Philen was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish.  Rites were held at 2:30
p.m. Sunday, conducted by Rev. E. B. Barton.  Burial was in Sardis Cemetery
under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Survivors are one son, Cecil R. Philen of Alexandria; three daughters, Mrs.
Fannie Mae Burton of Gloster, Mrs. J. C. Key of Sulphur, and Miss Madeline
Philen of Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Bettie Jordan of Jasper, Texas, and
Mrs. Emma Jackson of Shreveport; and a host of other relatives and friends.
