All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: December 13, 1956 Willie Poole, 87, Final Rites Held Here December 7 Final rites for Willie Poole, 87, who died in a Winnfield hospital Thursday, Dec. 6, 1956, were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the South Winnfield Baptist Church. The pastor, Rev. Jerry Green, officiated, assisted by Rev. L. L. Booth, Methodist minister. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Harper Terrill, J. J. Crippen, Sanford Jordan, W. C. Jones, Clifford Crone, and Charlie Christie. A native of Catahoula Parish, Mr. Poole had been a resident of Winnfield since 1910. From time to time he had been employed at the ice plant, as a mail messenger, and a night watchman. He was a member of the South Winnfield Baptist Church. For the past several years he had been residing with his daughter in Baton Rouge until several weeks ago when they returned to Winnfield to make their home. Surviving are three sons, J. W. Poole, E. L. Poole, and R. E. Poole, Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. R. T. Sessums, Baton Rouge. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
