Final Rites Held For "Uncle Lon" Pool At Mars Hill

Augusta Alonzo Pool, 82, lifelong resident of the Mars Hill community, died in
a Winnfield hospital Tuesday after a brief illness.  He had been making his
home more recently at the local nursing home.

Mr. Pool, known as "Uncle Lon", was a retired timberman and a member of the
Mars Hill Baptist Church.

Last rites were conducted at the Mars Hill Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday
with the Rev. Jack Jones officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Pool had no survivors other than nieces and nephews.  A brother in law,
Van Davison, resides at Wheeling.  Mrs. Virgil Tharpe and Mrs. Leslie Moore of
Winnfield are nieces and Murphy Worsham of Winnfield is a nephew.
