Ira Poole, retired, who started his railroad career in Winnfield more than 42 years ago, died at his home in Parson, Kansas, Friday, July 16th, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Poole, a brother of Mrs. H. J. Rogers, local resident, was an employee of the Rock Island lines when he was in Winnfield and after moving from here was associated with the M. K. & T. At the time of his retirement about three years ago he was assistant superintendent of the M. K. & T. Funeral services were held in Parsons, Kansas on Sunday following his death. Among the survivors are Mrs. H. J. Rogers, sister, and two brothers, W. W. Poole of Bienville, La., and Q. F. Poole of San Francisco. A sister, Mrs. Annie Poole Black, died this week at her home in Shreveport.
