Porter, Obit March 1, 1972, Winn Parish Enterprise James I. Porter, 80, Succombs; Rites at Union James I. Porter, 80, of Route 2, Winnfield died at 3 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 1972 at his residence. He was a retired employee of the Highway Department, and was a member of the Union Baptist Church near Joyce. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Sinnia Porter of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Clem Huffman and Mrs. James Wilson of Winnfield; a son, Cortez Porter of Winnfield; four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Evans of West Monroe, Mrs. Gladys Ashcraft of Minden, Mrs. Hanna Dickerson of Winnfield and Mrs. Clotiel Griffen of Alexandria; a brother, A.W. Porter of West Monroe; one grandchild, two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and six step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Old Union Baptist Church, Joyce, with Rev. Willie James officiating, assisted by Rev. Wilmer Jordan. Burial was in Union Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Winnfield. Pallbearers included Gene Porter, John T. Porter, Hezzie Porter, Bill Lang, Archie Cox and W.T. Mitchell.
