Porter, 61, of Winnfield died of a heart attack at 7 a.m. Saturday July 2, 1966, shortly after arriving at the home of his uncle, Jefferson Tillet Porter, 80, of Tannehill, who had just died of a heart attack. James Porter, a native of Winn parish as office manager at Winn Rock Co. near Winnfield and a member of the Sardis Baptist Church. He is survived by three brothers, F.M. Porter and R.H. Porter of Winnfield, and J.A. Porter of Lewisville, Ark. and four sisters, Lena Porter and Loyce Porter of Winnfield, Susie Hayles of Vidalia and Lillian Allen of Vinton. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hixson Bros. Funeral Home in Winnfield, with the Rev. E.B. Barton and the Rev. C.W. Jones officiating. Burial was in the Brown cemetery, near Sardis Church. Funeral services for Jefferson T. Porter were held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Tannehill Baptist church with the Rev. Lester Rhymes officiating. Burial was in the Sardis cemetery near Winnfield, under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Porter, a retired stock farmer, died at his home at Tannehill early Saturday of a heart attack. He was a descendat of two prominent pioneer families of Winn parish, the Porters and the Teddlies. He was a native of Winn parish. Porter was active in community and religious affairs, serving as a deacon of Tannehill Baptitst Church. Survivors are his wife, the former Alice Reid; a son, James R.
