Porter Held On Friday Funeral services for Hezekiah Porter, 71 year old Winn parish farmer, were held last Friday at 2 p.m. Mr. Porter passed away at his home on Tullos Highway on Thursday. Services were at the Old Union Baptist Church, with Rev. Gilbert St. Andrew officiating. Burial was in Old Union cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Porter was a native and lifelong resident of Winn parish. He was engaged in farming all his life here. He had been a member of the Old Union church since he was about 15 years old, and had been a deacon in the church for about 40 years. He was a Mason since he was 21 years old. He was born April 30, 1882. Masonic services were conductied a the graveside by the local order, with W. Warren Allen, Worshipful Master, presiding. Pallbearers were Masons. Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha Porter, three sons, Harmon and H. Porter both of Winnfield, and Richard Porter of West Point, Miss, five daughters, Mrs. J.L. Braud, Mrs. Curtis Gaspard, Mrs. J.B. Wilson, all of Shreveport, Mrs. S.E. Sims of Port Neches, Texas, and Mrs. H.T. Lovell of Winnfield; one brother, John Porter of Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. Grady Collins, Mrs. Barbara Ryder, and Mrs. Susie Godfrey all of Monroe.
