All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Callie Porter, Obit April 11, 1957, Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites For Miss Callie Porter Held April 9 Miss Callie Porter, 75, succumbed at a Shreveport hospital April 7, where she had been receiving treatment for a broken hip, which she received in a fall at her home in the Tannehill community about a week or more ago. Funeral services were conducted at the Sardis Baptist Church at 2 p.m. April 9, with the Rev. T. L. Rhymes officiating. Burial was in the Old Sardis (Brown) Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Murphy Eagles, Edward Eagles, Aubry Porter, Clifford eagles, Richard Jenkins, and Marion Eagles. A lifelong resident of Winn Parish, Miss Porter had lived her early life in the Sardis community, but for a number of years has been residing at Tannehill. She was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church and of the Tannehill Home Demonstration Club.
