Porter Succumbs To Long Illness Life-long Resident of Sardis Community Dies Friday. Mrs. Albert Porter, a life long resident of the Sardis Community, died at her home at one o'clock Friday morning December 17th at the age of 49 years, following a long and continued illness from that fatal malady, cancer, which for the past nine weeks had kept her confined to her bed. For thirty-five years Mrs. Porter has been a faithful, consecrated member of the Sardis Baptist Church and Rev. W. D. Sherwood, a former pastor of that church, conducted funeral services for her at the Sardis Cemetery where she was buried at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. Besides her husband the other relatives who survive her are her mother Mrs. Mary Bridges of the Sardis community, one brother, Mr. Albert Bridges, also of Sardis, three children, Lois, Lillian, and Harrel, who were at home, seven stepchildren, Marion Porter, Winnfield, Tillet Porter of Alexandria, Mrs. W. T. Hayles, Winnsboro, Ed Porter, Jena, Misses Nora and Lena Porter, and Aubrey Porter, of Winnfield. All these named relativdes were present at the funeral last Saturday.
