"Bill" Postle, prominent in area forestry for many years, will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, at the Winnfield First United Methodist Church. Rev. Grayson Watson, pastor of the church, and the Rev. O. R. Spell of Hodge will officiate. Mr. Postle, 68, died Tuesday morning, December 14, at his home in Winnfield after a brief illness. A native of Marion, Ohio, he attended Ohio State University but received his forestry B.S. and M. S. degrees in forestry from the University of Michigan. Following graduation in 1937 he worked for Mansfield Hardwood Lumber Company in Winnfield, advancing to chief forester. In 1956 he transferred to Robert Gair Corporation, which acquired Mansfield, and subsequently was employed by Continental Can Company and then by Continental Group. He was promoted to the position of district woodlands manager, which he held until retirement a few years ago. He continued part time work with Continental resources division in Hodge. He served two years with the Air Force in World War II> A charter member of the Louisiana Forestry Association, he held the position of second vice-president for several years and was a long time member of the executive committee and board of directors. He also was a charter member of the North Louisiana Group, Society of American Foresters, and held many other posts in forestry organizations. He was a past member of the Winnfield Lions Club and he was a member of the Winnfield First United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees and taught an adult Sunday School class for many years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He is survived by his wife, Louise; one daughter, Carla, of Metairie; one sister, Mrs. J. K. Long of Columbus, Ohio; and one brother, Lawrence of Roseland, Florida.
