E. Powell, Sr., Retired Machinist, Succumbed Aut. 3 H. E. Powell, Sr., 71, retired machinist died at his home in Winnfield August 3, after an illness of two and one half years. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church with the pastor, Rev. W. R. Gage, officiating. Assisting were the Rev. Troy Garrett of Dubach and the Rev. Eddie Morgan of Quitman. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery with the Masonic Lodge in charge. Pallbearers were J. W. Kennedy, Jr., Roy James, Buddy Wood, Melton Hightower, Melvin James, M. C. Bains, Louis James, J. R. Madden. A native of Ouachita Parish, Mr. Powell had made his home in Winnfield for the past 35 years. He was a Master Mason. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. H. E. Powell, Sr.; and one son, H. E., Jr., of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. C. B. Waldrip, Quitman; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. W. D. McConathy and Mrs. R. L. Corley, Coushatta; one half brother, S. B. Norred, Hodge; and one half sister, Mrs. W. E. Lawrence, Gibsland.
