H. J. Powers, 77 Succumbs At His Shreveport Home

Funeral services for H. J. Powers, 77, Shreveport real estate broker and
former resident of Winnfield, who died at his home at 408 Ockley Drive August
19, were held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with the Rev.
Joseph Sherer, associate pastor, officiating.  Burial was in a Shreveport
cemetery.

Mr. Powers had been a resident of Shreveport for the past 20 years.  Prior
to that he was in the auto sales business in Winnfield.  He was a native of
Waverly, Ky.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Wood Powers, Shreveport, daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Wood of Winnfield; two sons, Richard of Ft. Worth,
Henry James of Shreveport; one sister and one brother of Evansville, Ill.;
and two grandchildren.
