Funeral Rites For Van Powell Held Tuesday

Van Powell, 89, of Winnfield, died at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 1971 in a
Winnfield hospital.  He was a carpenter and affiliated with the Baptist
Church.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Windham Powell of Winnfield; a daughter,
Mrs. Bert Neal of Jena; a son, A. G. Powell of Mansfield; three brothers,
Fred Powell and Rev. Henry Powell, both of Jena, and John Powell of Epps; four
grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Temple Baptist Church at Jena
with Rev. K. G. Brooks officiating.  Burial was in Amiok Cemetery.
