Porter Held January 30 Funeral services for Mrs. Rardon Porter, 82, member of a pioneer and prominent Winn Parish family, were conducted at the Union Baptist Church Tuesday, January 30, with the Rev. Leland Swanner of Jonesboro and Rev. Willie Jones, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Jury Smith, A. B. Evans, John T. Porter, Billie Dickerson, Hezzie Porter, and Buddy Ashcroft. Mrs. Porter died in a Winnfield hospital Sunday at 8 p.m. following a long illness. She was the former Miss Artie Puckitt and was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish and was active in the religious life of the community until ill health forced her to retire. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. O. O. Dickerson, Winnfield, Mrs. Murden Ashcroft, Minden, Mrs. J. B. Evans, Monroe, and Mrs. J. E. Griffin of Alexandria; four sons, George and James I. Porter, Winnfield, Hezzie Porter, Houston, Texas, and A. W. Porter of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Sibbie Craft, Shreveport, and Mrs. Rabie Wade, San Francisco, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
