Jackson, Dies Dr. John Pugh, 89, prominent Cotton Valley physician, was killed December 30 when his auto was involved in a collision with a Webster Parish road machine about five miles north of Cotton Valley. Dr. Pugh was the father of Mrs. Shirley Jackson of Winnfield. Dr. Pugh had practiced in Cotton Valley for 35 years. He was a member of the Masons, charter member of the Cotton Valley Lions Club, American Medical Association, Louisiana Medical Association, and the Webster Parish Medical Association. He was also a Shriner and a member of the Cotton Valley Methodist Church. After being graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical School in 1903, Dr. Pugh began his practice in Atlanta, La., during the operation of the Germain-Boyd sawmill, where he remained until he moved to Cotton Valley. Survivors are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Jackson, Winnfield, Mrs. Johnnie Daflin, Alexandria, and Mrs. Claude Crow, Cotton Valley; one son, Byron Pugh, Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and a host of friends in Winn Parish. Funeral services were held at Cotton Valley, December 31, with burial in the Cotton Valley Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Robert Warren Coyle, Shreveport, Dr. Justin Lowe, Natchez, Miss., Tommy Holland, Baton Rouge, John Pugh, Baton Rouge, R. B. Shaw, New Orleans, Dennis Shell and John Jackson, Winnfield, all grandsons, and Odell Chandler, Marshall, Texas.
