Pullen of Dodson Dies Nov. 14 Mrs. Bashie Stovall Pullen, age 75 years, a member of one of Dodson's oldest and most prominent families, died Monday morning. Having suffered a paralytic stroke two weeks ago from which she never rallied. The deceased was a member of the Transport M. E. Church having moved there as a bride. It was largely through her efforts that the Tabernacle, to be used for religious services, was maintained and throughout the years it was she who designated the spot where each new grave should be made. Her joy was to keep the burying grounds in perfect condition. Mrs. Pullen is survived by the following children: Mrs. J. H. Gaar of Jonesboro; Mr. John Pullen, of Wyatt; Mr. Briant Pullen, of Dodson; Mr. Rolin Pullen, of Zenoria; Mrs. Homer Watkins, of Wyatt; Mrs. John Held, Lexington, Mississippi. Her husband, E. B. Pullen, and a son, Ben, together with two small children, preceded her in death. Mrs. Pullen was the last member of a large family. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Stovall, came from Alabama and settled in Jackson Parish, where she was reared with the following brothers and sisters, who preceded her in death: J. J. Stovall, B. F. Stovall, G. S. Stovall, Mrs. E. Walker, Mrs. Jack Pyburn, Mrs. Will Walker, Mrs. W. M. Anders, and Mrs. Tom Anders. The funeral services were attended by a host of relatives and friends. A number of colored friends with heads bowed in grief were permitted to file past the casket. The body was tenderly bourn to its final resting place amid a bower of beautiful flowers, by the hands of a group of her nephews, namely: W. G. Walker, M. W. Walker, R. J. Walker, B. M. Stovall, R. F. Stovall, T. L. Walker, and Judge E. L. Walker. Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. John Walsworth, Mr. A. H. Clayton, Mr. John Sims, Mr. Tom Walker, Mr. V. L. Brumfield of Jonesboro; Mrs. Nellie Dunn, Mrs. Bird, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Walker, Messrs. W. G. Walker and Hay Anders of Alexandria, Mrs. E. D. Boone of Leesville; Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Faith and son, John, Sheriff B. Sholars, C. F. Walsworth of Winnfield; Mr. and Mrs. L. Dickerson of Chatham, Mrs. W. J. Pepper, Mrs. Breeden of Weston; Mr. and Mrs. Ecnor Gaar of New Orlenas; Judge E. L. Walker and family of Ruston.
