"Pop" Purser, 70, of Winnsboro, retired director of the Northeast Louisiana Vocational School in Winnsboro died Tuesday night, January 9, 1973 at Franklin Parish Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro with the Rev. Glen Messer officiating. Burial was in the Providence Memorial Cemetery of Winnsboro. Mr. Purser was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnsboro, a resident of Winnsboro for the past 21 years, a member of the Winnsboro Lions Club, and was active in all phases of youth activity in the Winnsboro community. At the time of his death he was the training director of the Hanover Modular Homes in St. Joseph. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Irma Elaine Purser of Winnsboro; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Jackson of Winnfield; three sons, Don Purser of Winnfield, Dr. Robert Purser of Opelousas, and Paul C. Purser of Winnsboro; one sister, 12 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
