Lebanon Dies Saturday Saturday morning, April 17th, at 5 o'clock at the family home in Mt. Lebanon, the death angel who had been hovering near for four weeks, claimed the soul of Mr. J. R. Pye, and though his passing was marked by the same sweet peaceful manner of hjis life, he left many to mourn the going of one who had proved faithful in all things and whose gentle influence had meant so much. At the time of his death, Mr. Pye had reached the advanced age of 79 years, 8 months, and 19 days, and until, he was taken ill about six years ago he was active in business and church affairs of North La. He was a devout and consecrated member of the Baptist Church and ever lent his influence to the upbuilding of that which was for good in his community. He was buried Sunday afternoon in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery after the funeral service at the Baptist Church conducted by Dr. G. H. Crutcher, pastor of the Baptist Church of Winnfield, and Rev. C. C. Young of Arcadia, and which was attended by hundreds of friends and relatives. Many, many beautiful floral offerings were sent by friends who wished to express their sympathy in the loss of this good man. At the bedside when death came were his wife, seven chldren, Mrs. B. L. Anderson and Mrs. Charles Gibson of Winnfield, Mrs. Mc. N. Davis of Minden, P. G. Pye of Bienville, H. H. Pye of Fullerton, A. E. Pye of Phoenix, Ariz., and his stepson, J. E. Dutton and wife, also several grandchildren. Mrs. H. H. Pye and daughter, Marie of Shreveport, Mrs. Nettie Pye of Alexandria, Messers. Chas. Gibson and B. L. Anderson of Winnfield, attended the funeral services. The News-American joins the other friends of the family in extending our deepest sympathy in their great sorrow.
