Services Held For Mrs. Nettie Pye Sunday, May 15

Mrs. Nettie Barnes Pye, 81, of Monroe passed away May 14 in a Monroe hospital.
Funeral services were held at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Winnfield
Sunday, May 15, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ernest Evans officiating. Burial
was in the Winnfield Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Willard Harlan, Arnett Garriss, S. L. Garrett, R. L. Winn of
Lufkin, Texas, Paul K. Wright, Sr., and Paul K. Wright, Jr.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Allie Lee of Lufkin and Mrs. Ida Sorrey of
Monroe.

First Grade Teacher

Mrs. Pye was a former resident of Winnfield forty some odd years ago. She was
the first grade teacher of beginners' classes of 1913, 1914, and 1915, and
attended the reunion of these classes held in Winnfield five years ago. After
leaving Winnfield she taught in Alexandria until she retired in 1949.

Mrs. Pye was an aunt of Mrs. Letitia Lee of Winnfield.
