Payne Are Held At Dodson Interment Was Made At New Hope Cemetery Sunday Mrs. Carrie Payne, 52 years, 2 months, and 24 days of age, a member of a highly esteemed Dodson family, died Saturday afternoon after a lingering illness. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the M. P. Church with Rev. James Horton, Shreveport, assisted by Rev. I. A. Patton, of Monroe, in charge. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers were A. L. Mixon, J. G. Smith, Thomas Ware, Averett Stewart, Lacy Hemperley, Earl Ham. Surviving Mrs. Payne are five children, Mrs. L. L. Stewart, Dodson, Mrs. Clarence Blackman, Wisner, Mrs. Arville Richardson, Rhinehart, Roy Payne, Shreveport, Edwin Payne, Ruston, three brothers, Walter Cook, Columbia, Pat Cook, Franklin Parish, and S. Cook, Mississippi. A native of Mississippi, Mrs. Payne came to Winn Parish at the early age of 10 years. She was Miss Carrie Cook before her marriage to Edwin E. Payne on October 15, 1906. Her husband preceded her in death. Mrs. Payne was a devout member of the Methodist Protestant Church and early in life joined the Christian ranks and ever lived a consecrated life. From: July 8, 1937 Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites Held For Mrs. Carrie Cook Payne Mrs. Carrie Cook Payne, age 52 years, 2 months, and 19 days, member of a well known Dodson and Winn Parish family, died at her home June 19 after a lingering illness. Mrs. Payne was born in Adams County, Miss., and came to Winn Parish at the age of 11 years. She was married to Edwin E. Payne on December 15, 1907. She was a member of the Methodist Protestant Church with which she affiliated at an early age, remaining a devout Christian to the end. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the M. P. Church with the Rev. James Horton of Shreveport and the Rev. I. A. Patten of Monroe, officiating. Interment was made in the New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers were A. L. Mixon, J. G. Smith, Thomas Ware, Lacey Hemperley, and Earl Hamm. Surviving Mrs. Payne are five children: Mrs. L. L. Stewart, Dodson, Mrs. J. C. Blackman, Wisner, Roy Payne, Shreveport, Mrs. O. F. Richardson, Rhinehart, and Edwin Payne; also her stepmother, six brothers, and two sisters survive. Out of Town relatives attending the funeral were: C. C. Richardson, Rhinehart, La.; Mrs. Blanchard Bass and daughter, Jonesville; Mr. and Mrs. Ezell Taylor, Jena; Mr. and Mrs. James Blackman, Mrs. K. G. Dampier, Billy Dampier, Mrs. Gladys Stampley and children, Wisner; Mrs. Chas. Strong, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hamm, Monroe; J. O. Payne and Miss Effie Black, Tullos; Mrs. I. B. Cole, Winnfield; and Mrs. J. B. Milam, Jr., Ruston.
