Rev. Joe Quarles Succumbs; Buried In Jackson Parish

Funeral services for Rev. Joe W. Quarles, 77, of Jonesboro, were held at 11
a.m. Thursday at Sanders Chapel Baptist Church, Jackson Parish, with Rev. Ben
Ware and Rev. Izell Watson officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral
Home.

Rev. Quarles, a retired minister, died in a Jonesboro clinic Tuesday night
after a brief illness.  He was pastor of a number of Jackson Parish churches
and had conducted several area singing schools.

Survivors are his widow; three brothers, Riley of Ruston, John and Osborn,
both of Jonesboro; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Harvey of Quitman and Mrs. Dora
Abercrombie of Jonesboro.
