Radescich, Civil War Veteran, Dies Wednesday Funeral Services Were Held At Zion Hill Thursday Antoine W. Radescich, 92, Confederate Veteran, one of the oldest citizens of this parish, died after a short illness Wednesday morning. Funeral services were conducted at Zion Hill Thursday afternoon at 3:30 with Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister, in charge. He was assisted by Dr. B. C. Land of the First Baptist Church. The local Masonic Lodge conducted the rites at the grave. Active pallbearers were Bryant Sholars, C. F. Walsworth, W. T. Norman, B. L. Anderson, P. H. Mercer, and J. E. Carter. Honorary pallbearers were W. E. Dark, the only remaining Confederate Veteran in this parish; Hon. A. Leonard Allen, Judge Cas Moss, Dr. J. F. Faith, W. E. Heard, J. R. Heard, H. L. Boyett, W. M. Grigsby, Tom Weems, W. F. Dickerson, W. W. Allen, John Wright, H. W. Bass, Uncle W. Lenard Smith, F. L. Shaw, Matt Milam, J. R. Hall, N. M. Jackson, S. E. Jenkins, R. W. Buce, M. L. Branch, B. W. Bailey, J. M. Hyde, A. I. Talton, Clyde Swanson, W. U. Drewett, P. K. Abel, C. McGinty, and C. E. Tannehill. Mr. Radescich was a member of the David Pierson Camp No. 1603. He was in Company K, Louisiana Regiment (28th La. Inf.), having enlisted in Winnfield and left here with the second William Walker Company. Commander Radescich was a courier during the war. He was in the Battle of Mansfield and later was in Texas where he assisted in ____________. He was discharged in Texas. Mr. Radescich was born in Winn Parish in the first house ever built in this section. The house is located seven miles from here in the Tannehill Community. His father, Luca Radescich, helped to cut the first road through Winn Parish. It was called the Luke and Wyatt Road, going to St. Maurice. Mr. Radescich's father assisted in constructing the first bridge to be built across Dugdemonia Creek. Mr. Radescich was married to Miss Lou McGinty, who preceded him in death in 1909. They had no children but reared the orphan children of Mrs. Radescich's brother and wife, the late Mr. and Mrs. Roland McGinty. They are Miss Ruth McGinty of Winnfield and Mae and Irma McGinty, now married and living in other towns. A Mason for 67 years, Mr. Radescich would have received a gold certificate of membership within the next few days from the Eastern Star Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M. The deceases is survived by his nephew, Dr. A. W. Radescich and family of Winnfield, a nephew, Sam Satcher, and two nieces, Misses Inez and Bella Satcher, all of New Orleans.
