The boy, according to his mother, ate his lunch, was very jovial, went on the porch smoking a cigarette. He saw a hawk near his home and getting his gun, started down to shoot it. In passing through a gate made of wire, it was believed that the trigger caught on a wire causing the gun, which was a tricky single-barreled shotgun, to discharge. The bullet went through his heart causing instant death. Coroner J. F. Faith was called to the scene and pronounced the death accidental. The youth is survived by his mother, Mrs. Jim Ray, two brothers, Charlie and Vernon Ray, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Ross and Molly Ross, all of Winnfield. Funeral arrangements had not been made this afternoon. Services will probably be held at Sardis Friday.
