Reeves Killed On Hw. 34 A 61 year old Winnfield man, Jesse W. Reeves, was Winn's fourth highway fatality of 1968. He was killed at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, in a one car accident eight miles east of Winnfield on La. 34. According to Sgt. Marlin Connor, investigating officer, the accident occurred when the late model Volkswagen van driven by Reeves left his lane of traffic, striking the end of the bridge. The vehicle then went across the bridge, left the road, travelled across a ditch and hit a tree, killing Reeves instantly. Death was ruled accidental by Dr. Billy Floyd, Winn Parish Coroner. Reeves, who was alone in the car, was returning from Monroe where he had been for a medical checkup. A native of Union Parish, Mr. Reeves had lived many years in Winn Parish. He was a brakeman for Missouri Pacific Railway. Reeves was a brother-in-law of C. M. Robinson, late Winn Parish sheriff. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 2, in the chapel of Southern Funeral home, Rev. E. D. Roach officiating, assisted by Rev. C. C. Martin. Interment was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lois Reeves; two sons, Jesse N. Reeves of Luling, La., and Terry R. Reeves, of Langley AFT, Hampton, Va.
