J. F. Reid Dies From Heart Attack on Sunday Morning Served M. P. Churches in State for Past 45 Years Rev. J. F. Reid, age 74, died suddenly Sunday morning following a heart attack while he was visiting his daughter, Mrs. Jeff Porter, at Tannehill. Rev. Reid, apparently feeling good, arose Sunday morning about the same time as the other members of the household. When breakfast time came, Mrs. Porter inquired about her father. Thinking he would return soon she did not worry. Mr. Porter went to the lot to feed and it was then he discovered Rev. Reid lying on the ground. Rev. Reid was a minister of the Methodist Protestant church and had served a number of churches over North Louisiana as pastor, among them South Winnfield and Tioga. He came to Louisiana more than 45 years ago from Arkansas where he had moved with his parents from Alabama. His wife, the former Miss Flodie Elliott of Olla, preceded him in death in 1932. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. H. Lewis at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jeff Porter, and concluded by the Rev. G. A. Morgan at the Olla Cemetery where interment was made Monday afternoon at three o'clock. Surviving him are four sons, Henry Reid, Alonzo Reid, and Willie Ried of Winnfield; Guy Reid of Shreveport; three daughters, Mrs. Jeff Porter, Tannehill; Mrs. A. L. Sayes and Miss Florence Reid of Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Mealy Bufford, Texarkana, and Mrs. Martha Henson, DeQueen, Ark. (Submitted by Greggory Ellis Davies, Winnfield, Winn Parish, LA.)
