Last Rites Held For Bennett Rice Of Goldonna

Funeral services for Bennett Edward Rice, 53, were held at 3 p.m. April 12 in
Goldonna Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Burnley officiating.  Burial was in
Pleasant Hill Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.  

Riced died April 11 from gunshot wounds that the Natchitoches Parish coroner's
office ruled were "apparently self-inflicted".  He was a native of Goldonna.

He is survived by a son, Carson Bennet Rice of Campti; a daughter, Mrs. Robert
Rhymes of Goldonna; three brothers, James Rice and Lonnie Rice of Goldonna,
and Love Rice of Joyce; two sisters, Mrs. Dovie Morgan of Goldonna and Mrs.
Rena Burson of Minden; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers were Harry Davis, James Strickland, Bill Rowell, Andrew Morgan, J.
L. Morgan, and Erve Monroe.
