Richardson At Sardis Sunday Miss Velma Estelle Richardson, 41, died suddenly at 1:45 a.m. January 5 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Richardson, Walnut Street, following a stroke. She had been in ill health for a number of years. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, January 7, at the Sardis Baptist Church by Rev. H. H. McBride, pastor of the Winnfield Baptist Church and Rev. Allen, pastor of the Sardis Baptist Church. Burial was in the Sardis Cemetery. Miss Richardson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield and took an active part in Sunday School and B. T. U. activities until her health prevented further participation. She graduated in 1923 from the Winnfield High School and later attended Louisiana Tech and Louisiana State Normal College. Besides her parents she is survived by five brothers, Eugene, Lloyd, and Leo, of Port Arthur, Texas, Joseph of Waco, Texas, and T/5 Cheslie Richardson with the Army in Italy; two sisters, Mrs. Aliene R. Ricard and Helen Richardson, of Winnfield. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Richardson, Lloyd E. Richardson, and Leo Richardson, of Port Arthur, Texas, and Joseph Richardson of Waco, Texas; Mrs. R. E. Mathews, Sr. of Rt. 1, Mrs. D. H. Wallace of Verda, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Cupples and son of West Monroe, Dr. J. P. Durham of Pineville and Mr. W. M. Durham of Alexandria and Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Mathews, Jr., of Monroe.
