M. Rikard Dies of Wounds in Battle in Germany Pfc. Morgan Rikard, 30, died November 18, after receiving wounds the preceding day while taking part in battle on German soil, the war department notified his parents, Mrs. Eva Kennedy of Winnfield and his father, Clarence L. Rikard of Chestnut. His wife, the former Lois Tyler of Chesnut, La., is employed at the shell plant in Minden. A native of Winn Parish, having been born in the Couley community, where his grandmother, Mrs. M. Kelley, is residing at this time, Pfc. Rikard is a graduate of the Readhimer School, and was employed by the Caddo Casket Company in Shreveport before entering service. Pfc. Rikard entered service in July, 1942 and took his training at Camp Carson, Colorado, and in camps in California. He had served overseas since May, 1944. No. 2 Pfc. Morgan Rikard, 30 year old son of Mrs. Eva Kennedy of Winnfield and Clarence L. Rikard of Chestnut, died of wounds received in battle on November 18 in the European theater of war. He was with General Patton's Army. His wife, the former Lois Tyler of Chestnut, is employed in Minden and his grandmother, Mrs. M. Kelly, lives at Couley. Pfc. Rikard has been in service since July, 1942, and overseas since May, 1944.
