Death Claims Miss Della Riser of Shreveport

Former Resident of Winn Parish Succumbs After Long Illness

Miss Della Riser, 52, of Shreveport, died at the Highland Sanitarium Tuesday
night, January 23, 1940, after an illness of several years.  Last rites were
conducted at the Southside Baptist Church, Shreveport, Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
with the Rev. J. F. Kane, pastor, officiating.  Interment was in the family
plot in Forest Park Cemetery.

A native of Winn Parish, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Riser,
Miss Riser attended school at Beech Creek and Winnfield and at Mt. Lebanon
College, later teaching in this parish.  For the past twenty years she has
served as secretary to the pastor of the Southside Baptist Church, Shreveport.

Surviving are one brother, S. M. Riser, and two sisters, Mrs. Ila Ranney and
Mrs. E. O. Lites, all of Shreveport.  The deceased was the sister of H. C.
Riser, late publisher of The Winn Parish Enterprise.

Attending the funeral from Winnfield were Mrs. H. C. Riser and Misses Mary and
Ruth Riser.
