Albert Roberson, 36, a Baptist Negro minister, pastor of churches in Ruston and Monroe, was killed instantly in a train-car collision in Monroe last Saturday morning. He was a native of Dodson but spent most of his life in Hatfield Quarters, Winnfield, where his mother, Rosa Roberson, two sister, Elster Walker and Fay Roberson, and one brother, Berry Roberson, still reside. He is also survived by his wife and four children in Ruston, and one brother, George Roberson of New York. The accident occurred at the crossing of the Illinois Central railway, when Roberson's car failed to stop. The engineer of the train told police that he started blowing the whistle of the train "410 feet from the crossing." The 1957 tudor Ford, which was occupied by Roberson and another Negro minister, Rev. Henry Johnson of Arcadia, was thrown about 150 feet and flattened to the height of its tires, according to reports. Roberson's head was severely mangled and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Both men were thrown a distance. Johnson suffered lacerations but no bones were broken in the mishap. He was reported in an improved condition at a Monroe hospital.
