Roberts, 49, of Tullos, Star Route, Winn Parish, died at the Baptist Hospital, Alexandria, Sunday, at 11 a.m. from a fractured skull sustained Friday when he was hit by a falling tree. He was cutting logs for a Rochelle, La. lumber company when the accident occurred. He is survived by his widow, seven children, Elizabeth, James, Hewitt, Thomas, May Bell, Ruth, and Harrell Roberts; two brothes, R. D. Roberts and B. F. Roberts, Tullos; three sisters, Mrs. J. Genevieve Hemphill, Mrs. Bell McCartney, and Mrs. A. G. Killen, Winn Parish. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday with interment in the Roberts Cemetery. Mr. Roberts united with the Cross Roads Baptist Church in his early boyhood days and has served at various times as church clerk. He held that office when he was called away.
