Rockett, 37, Auto Salesman, Killed In Crash H. D. Rockett, 37, well known former Winnfield businessman, and Jonesboro automobile salesman, was killed almost instantly about 11:15 last Thursday night when his car, a 1949 Plymouth, went out of control and crashed into a tree about one quarter mile north of Dodson on Highway 167. Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. in Bernice with Rev. Elton Hughes and Rev. Lynn Browning officiating. Burial was in Bernice Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Rocket was employed with Wilson-Heard Automobile Company of Jonesboro and Springhill at the time of his death. He was formerly associated with the Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield and with the Bank of Winnfield and Trust Company. He had been in Winnfield on a business trip and was returning to his home in Jonesboro at the time of the accident. Cause of the accident was undetermined. Some reports state a blown out tire may have caused it. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucille Rockett; three sons, Billy, Chesley, and Ricky, all of Jonesboro; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Rockett of Bernice; a brother, Borden Rockett of Bernice; two sisters, Irma Rockett and Mrs. Lillian Spears of Bernice. Pallbearers were Woodrow Gough, Marlin Linkenfelter, Elmer Owen, Henry Runyon, Miller Roy, Elzie Roberson, Paul Vayne Gaar, and Louis Cotton.
