J. Taylor of Winnfield, were held at the Taylor home Wednesday afternoon at 3:30, with the Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in charge. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Curtis Rogers, who had been in California, since February was at an outing on the ocean side with friends. While in swimming the tide took him out and he was drowned. The accident occurred Monday, May 30th. Mrs. Taylor received news of the death Tuesday. It was some time before the body was recovered from the ocean. It was shipped from Los Angeles Sunday and arrived here Monday morning. The boy was well known here, having made his home with his aunt, after the death of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rogers. He is survived by an older brother, Willie Rogers of Houston, Texas and one sister, Mrs. C. F. Allison of San Antonio, Texas. Other out of town relatives attending the funeral services were Mrs. Rice and son Virgil of Houston, Texas.
