All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 23, 1958 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Silas Rowe, 73, Ends His Life, Funeral Saturday Funeral services were held Saturday for Silas Napoleon Rowe, 73, of Ward Ten, at Antioch Baptist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Yocum, officiating. Mr. Rowe died last Thursday night of a self inflicted gunshot would, according to the Winn Parish Sheriff's Department. Parish officers reported that he was alone at home Thursday night while members of the family attended a ball game at Calvin. When they returned home that night, Mr. Rowe was found dead. They reported the had been in ill health for a number of years, being under treatment for cancer. Mr. Rowe ended his life with a .22 caliber rifle. Burial was in Antioch cemetery under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Survivors include his wife, five children, Mrs. Maudine Ferguson of Jonesboro, Mrs. Lucille Mooney of Dodson, Mrs. Gloria Jean Hutton of Galveston, Texas, Mrs. Ruth Ann Caskey of Port Arthur, Texas, and Silas Rowe, Jr. of Goldonna; four sisters, one brother; and nine grandchildren.
