All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 24, 1954 Winn Parish Enterprise Shirley Rowell, 8 Years Old, Is Buried Thursday Funeral services for little Shirley Lou Rowell, age eight years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thee Rowell, were held Thursday, January 14 at 3 p.m. at Couley Double Church Cemetery. Shirley Lou had rheumatoid arthritis since she was about 18 months old. She died Wednesday, January 13, in Schumpert Sanitarium in Shreveport. Funeral services were held at the Double Church conducted by Sam Wiger, a traveling representative of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was assisted by W. R. Sherrill of Shreveport and Fred Green of Homer. Burial was under direction of a local funeral home, with pallbearers W. E. Bufkin, M. C. Smith, A. D. Rowell, J. E. Rowell, Gerald Rowell, and Ray Gieger. Shirley was born in Winn Parish August 23, 1945, and has lived at Haughton for the past two years. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thee Rowell; two sisters, Vida Ann, 6, and Theda Nell, 2; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Rowell and maternal grandfather, O. H. Shaw, all of Winn Parish; 12 uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.
