Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Rozelle and a companion had started fishing and were in a boat in about the middle of the lake, it was reported, when a strong wind rose, whipping up waves that swamped the boat. Rozelle and his companion took to the water and then the victim attempted to grab the side of the boat but the wind carried it out of his reach. It was said that Rozelle swam after the boat attempting to catch it but the wind kept it always just out of reach and the young man finally became exhausted and drowned. His companion was saved. It was said that Rozelle had enlisted in all three branches of military services, the army, marines, and navy, that he had been accepted in rotation in each branch but later discharged because of disability. He leaves his wife and a small child; and his parents of Ferriday, but formerly of Winnfield, and a brother, Melvin Rozelle, an employee of the Thomas Lumber Company, Winnfield.
