Night Georgia Ruben, colored, died instantly Wednesday night when a gun she was handing to her husband, Zell Ruben, is said to have accidently discharged, and the load hit her on the left jaw. The accident occurred about 8:30 o'clock Wednesday night when they heard a disturbance in their chicken yard and as she attempted to assist him with the lamp when she handed him the gun or he had the gun in his hand. Georgia and Zell were considered among the best colored citizens in Winnfield. She had been employed as a cook and maid by Mrs. Matthew Williams for the last ten years and he was employed at Milam's Wholesale store.
