C. Russ, Barber Funeral services for C. C. Russ, 62 years of age, who succumbed at the Pineville hospital Saturday, November 20, following a stroke Friday night, were held in Winnfield Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Alwin Stokes officiated. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Mayor Earl Applewhite, Lee Grigsby, Bob Smith, Roy Carpenter, Lawrence Donohoe, and Oscar Barton. At the time of his death Mr. Russ was employed by an Alexandria barbershop. From 1919 to 1940 he resided in Winnfield and during that time barbered for shops and also operated his own shop. Survivors include two sons, Arnauld Russ of New Orleans and Herbert Russ, in the U. S. Navy; his wife, Mrs. C. C. Russ of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Henry Russ of Monroe and Silas Russ of Star City, Ark., and one sister, Mrs. Susie Calloway of Star City.
