Russell, Sr., Dec. 7 Mrs James G. Russell, Sr., 68, succumbed at a local hospital Monday, Dec. 6, 1954, at 3 p.m., following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. Luther Booth officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. Waynon Mott, Rev. P. M. Carraway of Pineville, and Rev. E. C. Dufrense of Haughton. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixon Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Dudley Shell, Newton Forrest, Richard Heard, E. J. Buchanan, Harper Terrill, and Matt Milam, Jr. Mrs. Russell, the former Miss Ella Gibson, a native of Michigan, had been a resident of Winnfield since 1929. She first came to Winn Parish in 1918 and with her family resided in Joyce. Besides being an active member of the First Methodist Church, she was also a worker in the WSCS, the Orphanage Circle, and the Readers Review Club. She is survived by her husband, James G. Russell, Sr., of Winnfield; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Dark of Cleveland, Tex.; Mrs. Clyde Corley of Bastrop and Miss Ruth Russell of Winnfield; three sons, Donald of Minden; Lawrence of Alexandria; and James G., Jr., of Winnfield; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Edwin Ford of Huttig, Ark.; and three brothers, Herman Gibson of Clayton, James M.
