W. Sikes, 73, died in a hospital in Port Lavaca, Texas, Saturday, February 2, 1973. Funeral services were held Monday, February 5th in the Lawndale Chapel, Houston, Texas. Burial was in Lawndale Cemetery. Survivors include one son, Perkins Sikes of Houston and one daughter, Pauline Sikes Marek of Port Lavaca, Texas; eight grandchildren and number of great grandchildren. Mrs. Sikes, born Ona McKaskle, was the granddaughter of the later Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Perkins with whom she made her home. Mrs. Sikes was a retired music teacher. On January 25, 1917 she was married to the late Winfred Sikes of Sikes, La., and soon after their marriage they moved to Houston where they resided for a number of years. Mrs. Sikes was the niece of Mrs. W. O. Averett and Mrs. Eula Peavy of Winnfield and the late Mrs. Walter W. Allen.
