It was supposed that the accident occurred about noon and the man lay injured and bleeding until 6 p.m. A passerby discovered his plight and rushed him in to a local clinic where he died about thirty minutes later. His death was attributed to the loss of blood and the intense heat as the man had lain all the afternoon in the hot sunshine, his face and head cut and bruised considerably. It is said that Mr. Sanders left home at 9 a.m. to go to Winnfield and it is supposed that he was returning home when the accident occurred. Funeral services were held for Mr. Sanders at the Gorham Cemetery near Winnfield Monday afternoon at four o'clock. Rev. Ellis Smith, pastor of the First Methodist Church, had charge. The deceased is survived by his wife and five children.
