Funeral services for Nathaniel Green Sandiford, 71, who died Thursday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. E. Gassiott, in Winnfield, after a long illness, were held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, with Rev. C. S. Wroten, pastor of the Crowville Baptist Church, officiating. Burial, under the direction of First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro, was in the Adams Cemetery at Kelly. Pallbearers were Monroe Johnston, Roy Taylor, Bill Whitten, Charlie Smith, and Johnnie Walters. For a number of years Mr. Sandiford traveled for a sewing machine company, and was well known in Winn Parish. He was born in LaSalle Parish and moved to Winn Parish when a small boy. Several years before his death he moved to Franklin Parish where he farmed until ill health prevented him from working. He was visiting his daughter, Mrs. Gassiott, in Winnfield at the time of his death. Mr. Sandiford is survived by his wife; two sons, N. E. and C. I. Sandiford, both of Winnsboro; three daughters, Mrs. J. E. Gassiott of Winnfield, Mrs. Gerthea Grimshaw of Winnsboro, and Mrs. H. S. Sistrunk, of Hart, Texas; and ten grandchildren, two of whom are serving overseas in the U. S. Army.
