Robert L. Sanders, 21 year old former Sikes schoolboy, were to be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. He died in Army-Navy Hospital in Hot Springs, Ark., on Sunday. Pvt. Sanders was serving with the Army in Korea when he contracted Hodgkins Disease. He was treated in an Army hospital in Japan and then brought back to the States, where the disease proved fatal. He had been ill since about June. He attended Sikes High School and was working in Texas when called into the Army. The young man was born April 14, 1932. He had been in service one year the past October 9. Funeral services were scheduled at Hurricane Grove Baptist Church near Sikes, with burial in the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church near Sikes, with burial in the Hurricane Grove Cemetery. Services were to be officiated by Rev. Rhymes of Hudson and W. S. Emmons of Sikes. Pallbearers were members of the Sikes basketball team, Louis Sanders, Carroll Hatcher, Bobby Emmons, Jimmy Hatten, Perkins Thornton, Paul Underwood, and T. Ray Gregory. Pvt. Sanders is survived by his mother, Mrs. Annie Mae Centers; one brother, Howard Ray Sanders, Dodson, Route 1; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Sanders, also of Dodson, Route 1; and several uncles and aunts and other relatives.
