He was a native of Cloutierville and was an automotive salesman and mechanic. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gladys Harrison Scruggs of Montgomery; a stepson, John E. Sweeny of Sweeny, Texas; three brothers, Sam Scruggs and Joe Scruggs, both of Cloutierville and Ernest Scruggs of DeQuincy; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence Carnahan of Cloutierville, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Montgomery with Rev. George McVay officiating. Burial was in Montgomery Cemetery. Pallbearer were Billy Scruggs, Lawrence Carnahan, Jr., P. C. Erwin, Paul Lang, Melvin Hall, and Thomas Harrison.
