W. Shelton Mrs. Alice Virginia Martin Shelton, age 66 years, died at the family residence here Sunday night. Mrs. Shelton was born January 26, 1861 in Winn Parish and at the age of 14 years was converted at the Sardis Baptist Church, living a consecrated Christian life through all her remaining years. She was married to J. W. Shelton, December 25, 1878, to which union 12 children were born, 11 of whom survive her. She was a loving, devoted mother. Mrs. Shelton, with her husband and family later moved to Winnfield, becoming a member of the First Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Sardis Cemetery. Rev. A. H. Cullen had charge of the services. Many beautiful floral offerings were sent by friends and loved ones and a large concourse of friends and relatives attended the last rites. The following survive her: husband, J. W. Shelton; 11 children, M. T. Shelton, Algiers; R. B. Shelton, Bernice; Mrs. I. B. Keyes, Sardis; Mrs. J. E. Hughes, Dry Prong; Mrs. C. R. Mixon, Winnfield; Mrs. Olive Eagles, Winnfield; Mrs. J. H. Keyes, Baskin; Mrs. A. B. Hughes, Montgomery; Miss Ruby Shelton, Winnfield; Mrs. E. B. Barton, Sardis; Mrs. H. L. Preston, East Foxboro, Mass; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Drewett and Mrs. L. M. Bridges, Winnfield; 67 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
