Former Winn Officer Dies In Lake Charles

Charles Earney Shaw died in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March
25.

He was born January 2, 1882, and was 91 years old at the time of his death. 
He was born near Montgomery and was a native of Grant and Winn Parishes and
served for many years in law enforcement in Winnfield.  For the last six years
he was in a nursing center in Lake Charles.

Funeral services were held March 28th at the Montgomery United Methodist
Church with Rev. L. E. Milem and Rev. Robert T. Mutersbaugh officiating. 
Interment was at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Durwood Newton, William Land, Leeland Wright, Rayford Shaw,
Julian Shaw, Wayne Shaw, Reid Grigsby, C. E. Tilton, and O. M. Howell.

Survivors include a son, David C. Shaw; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce McIlvaine,
both of Lake Charles; and two sisters, Mrs. R. E. Grigsby and Pearl Shaw of
Baton Rouge.
