L. Shaw here after an illness of several months. Mr. Shaw was one of the early pioneers of this parish coming here from Coosa County, Alabama, when he was a lad of thirteen. He lived in Couley in this parish until he moved to Winnfield some eighteenyears ago. During the years of his young manhood he was very active in the affairs of this parish aiding in the united effort to wrench the reins of government from thehands of the carpetbaggers during the period of reconstruction following the great Civil War. He did much to restore peace and prosperity to his community. Mr. Shaw was a member of the Methodist Protestant Church, which church he joined a number of years ago. He leaves his widow and seven children: Frank L. Shaw and E. C. Shaw, leading merchants of Winnfield; J. H. Shaw, H. K. and J. A. Shaw, also of Winnfield; J. H. Shaw of Shreveport, and two daughters, Mrs. R. E. Grigsby and Miss Pearl Shaw of Alexandria. Funeral services were held last Saturday morning conducted by Rev. P. M.
