Page 71:  Mrs. Lucy Shelton  (1875-1892)

Where as we are called upon to mourn the loss of a loved one.  God in his
wisdom has seen fit to take from among us our sister and neighbor Mrs. Lucy
Shelton, wife of Jacob Shelton.  She has been taken but only to be
transplanted in that celestial clime.  She was among us from her birth Oct the
5, 1875 to her death Oct the 28, 1892, the short period of only 17 years, but
her life and character were so grand and noble we learned to love her.  For
the last few years of her life she was a consistent Church member and also for
a number of years a member of our Sabbath School and her every word, act and
deed was that of a christian lady.  We feel sad when we contemplate our loss
but rejoice that our loss is her eternal gain inasmuch as she is now freed
from ills incident to life and gone to where ills, trials and trouble have an
end.
