She had been ill health for the past four years. Last rites were conducted at the First Methodist Church Saturday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. P. M. Caraway, officiating. He was assisted by Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Goldonna Cemtery. Acting as pallbearers were E. E. Prince, Lt. Bobby Joe King, L. L. Brewton, Keith Everett, P. K. Smith, H. H. Machen, R. V. Gates, and Elton Brewton. A native of Goldonna, Miss Mattie Mae Gunter was married to Mr. Maynard "Mike" Shetley June 7, 1911. They moved to Winn Parish 20 years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was an active worker in the missionary society. Surviving are her husband of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Verna Lee Labat, Pascagoula, Miss.; Mrs. Dorothy Robinson, Houston, Texas; two sons, Maynard, Jr., Lubbock, Texas; and Ray, of Bootheville, La.; three sisters, Mrs. Molly McGee, Goldonna; Mrs. Alice Jarnagin, Marion; and Mrs. Myrtle Flott, Glenmora; two brothers, Allen Gunter, Goldonna; and Miles Gunter, Colfax.
