Davies gedavies@winnfield.net January 18, 2007, 11:21 am Winnfield News-American (January 24, 1941) F. L. Sheppard Dies Saturday Morning; Funeral on Sunday F. L. Sheppard, age 65, died at the hospital at Pineville last Saturday morning at six forty-five o'clock following an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock at the Antioch Church near Quitman, conducted by Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church here. Mr. Sheppard was born in Lincoln Parish near Ruston. He has resided in Winnfield since 1927, moving here from Quitman, and during his fourteen years here he has been employed at the local gin of the Jonesboro Gin Company. He is survived by his widow and six children, Mrs. A. J. Thomas of Quitman, Alvin and Jimmie Sheppard of Alexandria, A. E. Sheppard of Monroe, Miss Maggie Sheppard and Keeny Sheppard of Winnfield; two brothers, Tom and Grady Sheppard of Quitman, three sisters, Mrs. Effie Carson of Hodge, Mrs. Claude Stevenson of Quitman, and Mrs. Mack Norred of Dodson.
